Bring your family, friends and morning coffee to Newnan’s annual Fourth of July Parade on Friday in the city of Newnan. This year, the parade will begin at 9 a.m. from Veterans Memorial Plaza at Jackson Street and Temple Avenue and move through the Court Square south to Greenville Street Park.Walkers, strollers, bike enthusiasts, businesses and groups are all encouraged to participate.There is no fee to participate and registration is required only for motorized vehicles from groups and businesses.
If you have a child that has always wanted to walk in a parade, this is a great opportunity! There is an effort this year to increase community involvement by allowing children of all ages to march and ride in the parade.“We welcome you to join us on the Fourth of July as a walking participant in the downtown parade,” said Courtney Collins, Main Street manager.Families are welcome to use any non-gasoline powered vehicles and to walk or to peddle bikes and trikes in the parade. To participate, meet at Veterans Memorial Plaza at 8:30 a.m. on July 4.
Later that evening…….Coweta’s community fireworks extravaganza is July 4 evening at Newnan High’s Drake Stadium off LaGrange Street. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. 
Concession stands open 6 p.m. with hot dogs, popcorn and soft drinks. Doug Kees, joined by guest former Newnanite Brian Wright, an aspiring artist from Nashville, TN, will provide music 6:30-8:30 p.m. . State Rep. Lynn Smith and UWG Newnan Center Director Cathy Wright are emcees, and the Men of Cornerstone Quartet, a Southern Gospel quartet from Newnan, will perform patriotic selections.
