Arts and Music at Kennesaw State University
One of the best things about living at Entrenchment Hill is being in close proximity to Kennesaw State, the university with the 2nd largest enrollment rate in Georgia! Each semester they have a host of wonderful events on both their campuses that are welcome to the community.
The Bailey School of Music is always busy each semester, offering multiple performances per week from jazz ensembles to gospel choirs and symphony orchestra performances. Take a look at the calendar for April to choose which event is the right sound for you. Some of their special events include the following:
- South Pacific Festival: Wind Ensemble, Epoch Percussion Ensemble, featuring composer Viet Cuong — playing the music of New Zealand held April 14-15, 2023 from 8-9 p.m.
- Fresh Air Fridays – A FREE musical event beginning in April 2023
Visit the Kennesaw State University Marietta campus for their annual spring Student Dance Concert held April 28-29 from 8-9 p.m. The concert highlights works created by, and for KSU students. Experience the mesmerizing classic dance styles and other contemporary works in this display of artistic voices and creative talents.
Exciting news: This season’s featured show from the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies is Rent! Now showing from April 6-9th and April 13-16th, join the amazing student performers as they act out this captivating musical rock show that has won four Tony Awards including Best Musical.
Festivals, Fun Days, and Fanfare
Are you a fan of classic cars, revving engines, and unique vehicle upgrades? Caffeine and Octane Car Show is held every first Sunday of the month at Town Center Mall at Cobb from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The event is always held ‘rain or shine’ and is a family-friendly and FREE spectator event. All privately owned makes and models are also free to exhibit. It’s first come first serve for the best available parking spots!
The Kennesaw Farmers Market takes place every Monday afternoon from the first Monday in April through the last Monday in September. The market is open from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and features an average of over 30 local farmers and merchants offering fresh vegetables, seasonal fruits, plants, and a variety of local food and products.
Downtown Kennesaw is host to the annual Big Shanty Festival on April 22-23. Attendees will enjoy the more than 200 booths with arts & crafts, food vendors, merchants, and live entertainment. The festival kicks off with a parade featuring floats, high school bands, and marchers. Come join the fun at this FREE event for the family.
