Memorial Day weekend is a time to remember our fallen service men and women. We honor the sacrifice they gave so that we may continue to live in the land of the free and home of the brave. This holiday weekend is also an occasion when many people spend time with family and friends. As Memorial Day weekend traditionally kicks off summer activities, many of us will gather for a cookout. Here are four patriotic Memorial Day treats that are sure to please at your weekend cookout.

Pop Rocks Surprise Mini Cupcake Flag Cake

These Pop Rocks Surprise Mini Cupcakes are sure to make your taste buds explode. Once all of the mini cupcakes have been decorated, simply place them on a serving tray to match the pattern of the American flag. At first glance, they look like traditional cupcakes, but hidden inside your guests will find a burst of flavor from the blue and red pop rocks.

Red, White, and Blue Yogurt Popsicles

For a treat that will cool your tastebuds down, try these Red, White, and Blue Yogurt Popsicles. With a few popsicle molds and three simple ingredients, these tasty popsicles can be prepared in a matter of minutes. After setting in the freezer for at least four hours, your popsicles will be ready to serve. They’re not only a festive treat but also a healthy option that the entire family can enjoy.

Patriotic Vanilla Rice Krispie Treats

Take a classic treat to the next level with these Patriotic Vanilla Rice Krispie Treats. In addition to butter and marshmallows, this recipe also includes vanilla baking chips for a sweet addition. After the rice krispie treats have cooled, you can cut them into your desired shape and coat them with a candy coating and sprinkles.

Patriotic Fruit Kabobs

For a treat that’s vegan and gluten-free, try these Patriotic Fruit Kabobs. This fruity dessert takes about ten minutes to make depending on the number of kabobs you’re serving. All you’ll need are some fresh strawberries, blueberries, bananas, and finely shredded coconut. After slicing the bananas, they are coated in coconut to provide a more white aesthetic. Simply thread the fruit on a kabob skewer and serve.

Honor and Remember

We hope you enjoy the time spent with your family and friends enjoying one of these patriotic Memorial Day treats this weekend. During this time, we must never forget the cost numerous men and women have paid on our behalf. From everyone at Kerley Family Homes, we thank all of the service men and women who fight and give their lives to preserve our nation’s freedom.
