April marks the beginning of the strawberry season in Georgia. For families, berry picking is a great way to spend quality time together. From picking the berries to savoring their sweetness, it’s a great spring activity the whole family will enjoy. To help you find a “u-pick” location near you, we’ve put together this list of strawberry farms near some of our Kerley Family Homes communities.

Mitcham Farm in Covington

Mitcham Farm operates year-round, providing a variety of farm experiences for the public to take part in. During the spring, the strawberry farm is open Monday to Saturday from 9 am – 6 pm and Sunday from 1 pm – 5 pm. Here you’ll be able to pick your own strawberries fresh from the vine or buy a bucket of pre-picked strawberries. They also have a variety of tasty treats including fresh strawberry slushies, homemade strawberry ice cream, jams, preserves, and much more. The kids will also love visiting the farm animal viewing area. Better yet, the last weekend of April, take a trip to Mitcham Farm for their Strawberry Festival to enjoy live music, vendors, food, and fun.
